Rs. 111.66 Crore Released for Fisheries Development in J&K, LG Expresses Gratitude


Jammu, March 21, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Panchayati Raj and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh for the release of the central share of ₹111.66 crore for the implementation of an approved fisheries development project in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor conveyed his appreciation, stating that the financial support would significantly boost the fisheries sector in the region.
“I am grateful to Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Hon'ble Minister of Panchayati Raj & Fisheries Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh Ji for releasing the central share of ₹111.66 crore to implement the approved fisheries development project in J&K,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor further informed that during the current financial year, a mother sanction amounting to ₹10 crore has already been released by the Ministry. He added that the Government of India has assured additional funds upon utilisation of the sanctioned amount.
Highlighting the broader objective, he noted that the Centre remains committed to improving the livelihoods and welfare of fish farmers across the Union Territory.
