Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Remembered on 44th Death Anniversary

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 8: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday paid tributes to party founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 44th death anniversary at his mausoleum in Naseem Bagh, Hazratbal. Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah offered floral tributes and recited Fateha at the grave of the former J&K leader. Senior NC leaders, legislators, party functionaries and workers also gathered at the mausoleum to commemorate Sheikh Abdullah and recall his political legacy. The gathering remembered Sheikh Abdullah’s role in shaping the political history of Jammu and Kashmir and his contribution to the National Conference and the people of the erstwhile state. Party leaders said Sheikh Abdullah’s legacy continues to occupy an important place in the political history of Jammu and Kashmir. Popularly known as the “Sher-e-Kashmir”, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah founded the National Conference and served as the first Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He died on September 8, 1982. ANB
