CM Omar Abdullah Reviews Rain Situation, Directs High Alert and Swift Relief Across J&K

JAMMU, July 19: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu, to review the situation arising from incessant rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir and assess the preparedness of the administration to deal with weather-related challenges. During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir briefed the Chief Minister on the prevailing situation in their respective divisions and outlined the measures being undertaken to mitigate the impact of heavy rains and ensure public safety. The Chief Minister reviewed the availability of essential supplies across all districts, including food, medicines and safe drinking water, and directed the administration to ensure uninterrupted availability of these necessities. Emphasising the need for constant vigilance, Omar Abdullah instructed all district administrations to remain on high alert, closely monitor vulnerable and flood-prone areas, and ensure a prompt response to any emergency. He directed officials to keep men, machinery and essential services fully prepared to safeguard lives and property. The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of effective coordination among all departments to ensure a unified response. He called for immediate outreach to affected families, timely distribution of relief and all possible assistance to those impacted by the adverse weather. He further directed the concerned departments to expedite the restoration of road connectivity and power supply in areas affected by the incessant rains to minimise inconvenience to the public. ANB
