DGP Anand Jain Inaugurates Tourist Police Check Posts During Maiden Visit to Nubra, Reviews Security and Tourism Policing
Leh, July 20: Director General of Police (DGP), Ladakh, Anand Jain, IPS, on Monday undertook his maiden visit to District Nubra, where he inaugurated newly established Tourist Police Check Posts, reviewed policing arrangements and interacted with police personnel, civil society representatives and tourism stakeholders to strengthen public safety and tourist-friendly policing in the region.
The DGP was received at the Khardungla Check Post by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Nubra, and other police officers. He inspected the under-construction prefabricated Tourist Police Check Post at North Pullu and directed the executing agency to complete the remaining work at the earliest.
During the visit, Shri Jain interacted with police personnel deployed at North Pullu and commended their dedication and commitment while serving in the region's challenging terrain and harsh weather conditions.
As part of Ladakh Police's community outreach programme, the DGP distributed cricket kits among local youth clubs at Khardung village, reaffirming the force's focus on youth engagement and positive community participation.
The DGP also inaugurated the newly established Prefabricated Police/Tourist Check Post at Khalsar village. The facility has been set up to enhance police presence, improve traffic management, provide timely assistance to tourists and local residents, and strengthen emergency response along the key tourist corridor.
During his tour, Shri Jain visited Diskit Monastery and held interactions with officers of the District Administration led by the Deputy Commissioner and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Nubra.
At the District Police Office (DPO), Nubra, the DGP was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by police personnel before reviewing the overall functioning of the district police.
In a meeting with civil society representatives, discussions focused on public safety, tourism management, traffic regulation, youth engagement, drug abuse, cybercrime complaints, emergency response mechanisms and police-public coordination. The DGP assured participants of Ladakh Police's continued commitment to addressing public concerns and maintaining peace, safety and effective policing across the district.
The DGP also inspected Police Station Nubra, where he reviewed the implementation of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), complaints received through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, and the progress of cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He further inspected the Jawan Mess, police barracks and the old GO Mess while interacting with police personnel.
Later, Shri Jain inaugurated the newly constructed Tourist Police Check Post at Hunder Sand Dunes and met civil society members and tourism stakeholders. Emphasising professional, courteous and tourist-friendly policing, he called for closer coordination among the Police, District Administration, local representatives, tourism stakeholders and the public to ensure a secure and welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike..
