LG Manoj Sinha Reviews Rain, Flash Flood Situation; Directs Swift Relief and Restoration Measures

Srinagar, July 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reviewed the situation arising from heavy rains, flash floods and landslides that have affected several districts of the Union Territory and directed officials to ensure swift relief operations and restoration of damaged infrastructure. The Lieutenant Governor spoke with senior officials to assess the prevailing situation and instructed them to expedite relief measures in the affected areas while ensuring timely restoration of essential services and public infrastructure. In a post on X, Shri Sinha expressed grief over the loss of lives in Doda and said, "I spoke to senior officials today to assess the impact of heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides. I am deeply saddened by the loss of two lives in Doda, and my heart goes out to their families." He said emergency response teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army, have been deployed and remain on high alert in vulnerable areas. The Lieutenant Governor further informed that key roads in Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi and Udhampur have been reopened, while restoration of water supply in several affected areas is underway. He also directed field teams to undertake an urgent assessment of damage to residential houses and public infrastructure to facilitate timely relief and rehabilitation measures.
