Baramulla / Kurukshetra, January 11, 2026:
Another proud milestone was achieved for District Baramulla and Jammu & Kashmir as girl athletes from the Khelo India Centre delivered an impressive performance at the Khelo India Asmita Women’s League, held at Kurukshetra, Haryana, from January 10 to 11, 2026.
Representing Jammu & Kashmir in their first-ever participation in the national-level women’s cycling competition, all riders from District Baramulla showcased determination and competitive spirit. Ulfat Mushtaq secured an outstanding 10th position in the 30 km Time Trial, and despite suffering a crash, bravely finished 111th in the challenging 60 km Mass Start. Mehak Mushtaq delivered a consistent performance by finishing 12th in the 30 km Time Trial as well as 12th in the 60 km Mass Start. Hoor-i-ein Lone added further pride to the team by achieving 16th place in her category.
This historic participation marks a significant step forward for women’s cycling in Jammu & Kashmir and reflects the growing impact of the Khelo India Centre in nurturing young talent across sports disciplines. The grit, resilience, and dedication shown by these athletes have brought great honor to District Baramulla and the Union Territory.
