Leh: Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta has approved the grant of notional annual increments for the probation period to employees appointed under the Jammu & Kashmir Special Recruitment Rules, 2015 (SRO-202).
The decision is aimed at ensuring fairness and maintaining service parity by recognising the legitimate service entitlements of employees in Ladakh and providing them a level playing field.
Under the approved provision, annual increments that were not granted during the probation period will now be added on a notional basis, leading to an upward revision of Basic Pay and placement of employees at the appropriate stage in the pay matrix.
The enhanced Basic Pay is expected to positively impact future financial benefits, including Dearness Allowance (DA) and other pay-linked allowances, besides ensuring more favourable pay fixation at the time of promotion.
The move will also result in improved retirement benefits such as pension, gratuity and leave encashment, as these are calculated on the basis of the last drawn pay.
According to official sources, the decision aligns Ladakh employees with their counterparts in other States and Union Territories, addressing long-standing pay disparities. Employees have welcomed the move, describing it as a fair and morale-boosting step by the Administration.
