Jammu, April 1, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday directed the adoption of a strict ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy against the growing drug menace in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, calling for coordinated and decisive action at all levels.
Chairing a high-level meeting of Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), and senior civil and police officials at Lok Bhavan in Jammu, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for a comprehensive, multi-pronged strategy to combat drug abuse and trafficking.
He underscored the importance of strengthening law enforcement mechanisms to dismantle narcotics networks, intensifying mass awareness campaigns to discourage drug use, and enhancing treatment, counselling, and rehabilitation facilities to support affected individuals.
“Action against drug abuse must be our top priority. A collective and institutional mechanism is essential to safeguard the youth and secure a healthier future for Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also called for bolstering grassroots intelligence systems and ensuring strict, coordinated action against drug smugglers.
The meeting reviewed preparations for a dedicated three-month campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, with the Lieutenant Governor urging officials to lead from the front and ensure active participation from all sections of society to transform the initiative into a mass movement.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and other top administration and police officials attended the meeting.
