Jammu, 11 December 2025: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday urged the country’s youth, writers, and thinkers to help steer the nation to new heights, describing them as the true inheritors of India’s eternal traditions, customs, and spiritual heritage.
Speaking at the Shri Kailakh Sanskrit Ratna Award-2025 ceremony in Jammu, organised by the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, the LG said the nation is witnessing a cultural renaissance after a long time. He stressed that young people must acquire modern skills while also protecting India’s ancient cultural values.
The Lieutenant Governor said youth should cultivate scientific curiosity alongside the spiritual wisdom exemplified by Adi Shankaracharya. Calling Sanskrit the world’s oldest living language with a complete knowledge system, he noted that the works of great writers, thinkers, scientists, mathematicians, and sages could significantly contribute to intellectual and technological progress.
On the occasion, the LG conferred the prestigious Sanskrit Ratna Award on Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi, Vice Chancellor of the Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, in recognition of his outstanding service and achievements. The event was graced by Anant Shri Vibhushit Shrimad Jagadguru Ramanujacharya Swami Vasudevacharya Maharaj.
In his address, the LG appreciated the Trust’s efforts to promote Sanskrit and India’s traditional learning systems. He also congratulated the organisation on its 14th Foundation Day.
The Lieutenant Governor presented five resolutions for citizens, calling for collective action toward a more conscious, harmonious, and progressive society. These resolutions emphasised:
1. Balancing material and spiritual life through self-discipline, simplicity, innovation, and spiritual development.
2. Fostering social harmony and building a generation grounded in peace, respect, and compassion.
3. Transforming education to develop individuals who embody both scientific temperament and saintly virtues.
4. Establishing harmony with nature to build a sustainable future.
5. Uniting against divisive forces, with enlightened citizens leading efforts to maintain societal cohesion.
He said every Indian should feel proud of the nation’s glorious civilisation and contribute to nation-building based on the ideals, values, and character of great leaders.
The LG also highlighted the significant role of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in promoting Sanskrit and spiritual learning, infrastructure development, and welfare initiatives.
The event was attended by Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of the Shri Kailakh Trust; Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu; members of the Trust; religious leaders; and prominent citizens. Legislators Sham Lal Sharma, Surinder Kumar, Devyani Rana, and Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, along with senior civil and police officials, were also present.
