PM Modi Addresses Rozgar Mela, Distributes Over 51,000 Appointment Letters; Unveils Major Push for Youth Employment and Economic Growth

New Delhi, July 12 (ANB): Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today addressed the 16th Rozgar Mela via video conferencing, distributing over 51,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youth in various Government departments and organizations across the country.

Congratulating the recruits, the Prime Minister emphasized that this marks the beginning of a new chapter of responsibility in national service. “Whether it's the Ministry of Railways or Health, Finance or Labour, all of you have a common purpose – service to the nation, guided by the mantra of Citizen First,” said PM Modi.

India’s Youth: Demographic Dividend and Global Capital

Highlighting India’s unique strength as the world's largest democracy with the largest youth population, PM Modi called this vast talent pool the country’s greatest capital. “The Government is committed to transforming this youth power into a powerhouse for long-term prosperity,” he said.

Reflecting on his recent five-nation tour, PM Modi said the global interest in India's youth was palpable. “Agreements signed in key sectors like defence, digital tech, energy, and pharmaceuticals will open new doors for our youth, both in India and abroad,” he added.

Historic Job Creation Initiatives

Announcing a new Employment Linked Incentive Scheme, PM Modi said the Government would provide ₹15,000 to first-time private sector employees, contributing directly to their first salary. With a budget of ₹1 lakh crore, this scheme aims to generate 3.5 crore new jobs, he said.

He also cited the success of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which has created over 11 lakh jobs so far, with major growth in mobile and electronics manufacturing. “From just 2-4 mobile phone units, India today has nearly 300 manufacturing units, employing lakhs,” he noted.

Booming Sectors: Defence, Railways, Automobiles

PM Modi said India has emerged as a global leader in defence manufacturing, with production exceeding ₹1.25 lakh crore. The country has become the largest locomotive producer globally and seen massive growth in rail and metro exports.

The automobile sector alone has attracted $40 billion in FDI over the past five years, leading to the opening of new factories and record vehicle sales, he added.

Welfare Schemes Driving Employment

PM Modi cited a recent ILO report, noting that over 90 crore Indians have benefited from welfare schemes in the past decade. He emphasized that these initiatives are not just about subsidies but are creating large-scale rural employment.

He highlighted flagship schemes such as:

PM Awas Yojana: 4 crore houses built; 3 crore under construction

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: 12 crore toilets created construction jobs

Ujjwala Yojana: Over 10 crore LPG connections expanded bottling and delivery

PM Surya Ghar Yojana: ₹75,000 per rooftop solar setup spurring jobs in green tech

Namo Drone Didi: Rural women trained as drone pilots

Empowering Women and Street Vendors

The Prime Minister announced major progress toward the goal of creating 3 crore “Lakhpati Didis”, with 1.5 crore women already reaching that milestone. Schemes like Bank Sakhi, Bima Sakhi, Krishi Sakhi, and Pashu Sakhi have provided women with sustainable incomes.

The PM SVANidhi and Vishwakarma schemes, he noted, are integrating street vendors and traditional artisans into the formal economy, offering credit, training, and livelihood support.

Massive Poverty Reduction

“Over the last 10 years, 25 crore Indians have come out of poverty – a transformation made possible only through widespread employment,” PM Modi said, adding that global institutions like the World Bank now recognize India as a top nation for social equality.

Rozgar Mela: A Nationwide Employment Drive

The 16th Rozgar Mela is being held across 47 locations, continuing the Government’s mission to provide meaningful employment to youth across India. Over 10 lakh recruitment letters have already been issued under this initiative.

New recruits will be joining a wide array of ministries, including Railways, Home Affairs, Health, Labour, Posts, and Financial Services, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to building a robust and service-oriented administrative workforce.
