Sunil Sharma Leads Public Outreach in Jammu, Assures Action on People’s Demands

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 10: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, along with BJP MLAs, held an extensive public outreach programme at the Jammu Convention Centre on Thursday, where representatives of various sections of society raised issues concerning employment, livelihoods, trade, infrastructure and welfare. The outreach programme was attended by MLAs Sham Lal Sharma, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, Yudhvir Sethi, Arvind Gupta, Dr. Rajeev Bhagat, Mohan Lal Bhagat and Surinder Bhagat. A large number of delegations representing different organisations and sections of society apprised the Leader of Opposition and BJP legislators of their grievances, pending demands and other issues affecting their respective sectors. The delegations included representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, Traders Federation, NHM employees, daily wagers, OBC Samaj, transporters, Industries Federation, junior pharmacists, farmers, sports associations, PoJK refugees and Citizen Cooperative Bank, among others. Sunil Sharma and the BJP MLAs heard the delegations and took note of the issues raised by them. Sharma also directed the concerned departments to initiate necessary remedial measures and assured the delegations that genuine public concerns would be raised during the forthcoming Assembly session. He said the BJP would continue to take up issues affecting different sections of society and would not allow genuine public concerns to be overlooked. Sharma alleged that the people of Jammu & Kashmir had voted with expectations of change, development, employment and improved governance, but claimed that the NC-led government had failed to meet several of these expectations. He said issues concerning employees, traders, farmers, youth, refugees, transporters and other sections required sustained attention and concrete action rather than political rhetoric. The Leader of Opposition reiterated that the BJP would continue to raise public issues both inside and outside the Legislative Assembly. He said the party’s outreach programmes were aimed at ensuring that the concerns of different sections reached the appropriate forums of governance. Sharma said BJP legislators would continue to engage with the people and work for the resolution of their legitimate demands, while seeking greater focus on development, employment, public welfare and effective governance in Jammu & Kashmir.
