J&K Assembly Takes Up Resolution Seeking TET Exemption for Pre-October 2019 Teachers
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 22: Minister for School Education Sakeena Itoo today moved a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly seeking an amendment to the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, to exempt teachers appointed before October 31, 2019, from appearing in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
The resolution urges the Union Government to make the necessary statutory amendment to Section 23 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, to provide the exemption to all teachers appointed before October 31, 2019.
It further calls upon the Union Government to take requisite legal measures and issue the necessary notification through the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) for implementation of the proposed TET exemption.
During the discussion, legislators Balwant Singh Mankotia, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Waheed Ur Rehman Para and Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh participated in the debate and raised various aspects related to the resolution.
